Szeged, known as Hungary’s ‘City of Sunshine’, is the third largest city of Hungary and is situated on the country’s south-eastern border, just south of the mouth of the Maros river on both banks of the river Tisza.

Szeged is the lowest elevation city in the country and has the highest number of sunny days in Hungary throughout the year.

The city is known for its Open Air Theatre Festival held in the summer which attracts people from all over Europe. Situated about 171 km south of Budapest, Szeged is easy to reach by car (2 hours), train (2 ½ hours) and daily frequent buses (3 to 3 ½ hours).
