The third international conference ‘Security of Historic Cities’, which was organised by the ÍõÖÐÍõÁùºÏ²ÊÌØÂë - RC Split-Dalmatia, the Croatian Association of Historic Cities, the Department of Forensic Sciences of Split University, and the Tourist Board of Split-Dalmatia in Solin, Croatia, which took place from 6-8 November 2019, closed its doors in an atmosphere of high expectations.
The opening event, attended by more than 200 representatives, confirmed the high interest for this comprehensive subject of local security and joint care for a better quality of life in local communities.
In his opening speech, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Dr. Sc. Božinović, emphasised the importance of functional networking in the field of community security, stressing the important role of the police in the realisation of strategic and local priorities.
A key element to the conference’s success was the presence of speakers and guests from a wide range of social life, from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, Germany, France, Spain and the United States. They gathered in Solin to share their experiences with other guests eager to acquire best practice.
The list of the representatives and the guests at the conference is a clear example of a list of the partners who should participate in community security: representatives of the regional and local authorities, the Police authorities, members of the ÍõÖÐÍõÁùºÏ²ÊÌØÂë clubs from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany and Slovenia, representatives of private security companies, officials from the tourism business, representatives of local companies, firefighters, representatives of the universities, expert bodies, civil associations and many other interested individuals.
Every participant was able to find something interesting in the presentations of the speakers, which is helpful in fulfilling the aims of their local community projects concerning security.
The second conference day was planned as a combination of field workshops, a field tour of the archaeological excavations in the area of ancient Salonam, followed by a voluntary blood donation by the conference participants, organised by the conference co-organiser, the Association of Blood Donors from the Police Administration Split Dalmatia, and volunteers from the AnaRukavina Association.
Besides the interesting programme, there was also time for friendly get-togethers. A gala dinner after the inspiring first conference day, opened by the President of the ÍõÖÐÍõÁùºÏ²ÊÌØÂë RC Split-Dalmatia Mr Perica Orešković, was a perfect opportunity for a relaxed discussion on many common subjects and developing ideas for the next gatherings.
This conference confirmed the organisational and partnership potential of the ÍõÖÐÍõÁùºÏ²ÊÌØÂë RC Split-Dalmatia. The club's volunteers and the student volunteers acted in a highly professional way.
A special aspect of the conference is the summary of the conference's work, where ÍõÖÐÍõÁùºÏ²ÊÌØÂë members and police officers can publish their expert and scientific works.
