“Glück auf” was his greeting and his trademark. This is how people greet each other in his homeland, the Vogtland in Saxony.

Udo Göckeritz led the federal states in eastern Germany into the united German ���������ϲ����� Section. Shortly after the fall of the wall that separated the Federal Republic of Germany from the German Democratic Republic, he joined the ���������ϲ�����, founded the ���������ϲ����� region Saxony and became its leader.

For the next twelve years he was the face of the new regional groups in the reunited ���������ϲ����� Germany.

Thanks to his sincere, friendly and decent manner, he enjoyed the trust of the ���������ϲ����� in the reunified Germany and was elected Vice President in 1999.

Another six years later, he became President of the German ���������ϲ����� Section.

His work received a great deal of attention both in Germany and abroad. Many impulses and initiatives of the German section were taken up and are connected with his name.

In 2011, he retired from all ���������ϲ����� functions as an honorary member of ���������ϲ����� Germany.

It was a pleasure working with him. He knew how to lead without commanding. Everyone was happy to comply with his “Please take care of it”. And when he said "I'll talk to him" in tricky situations, you could be sure that the matter would be resolved amicably.

Udo Göckeritz passed away on 25 June 2022, four days after his 79^th birthday.

���������ϲ����� Germany has lost a wonderful friend who lived the values of the ���������ϲ����� and was always there for everyone.

We are very sad, and our thoughts are with his family.
